AFTERNOON TEA AT THE BANYAN VERANDA - A MOANA TRADITION

Indulging in afternoon tea at the Banyan Veranda was a Waikiki tradition in the early 1900s.  The Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort, continues this gracious tradition today by offering guests a variety of fine teas, accompanied by an elegant selection of finger sandwiches and sweet pastries, complete with white-gloved service. 

Popular and traditional flavors balance the Moana’s collection of delightful teas.  The Banyan Veranda’s signature blend, the Moana Royal, features hints of papaya and passion fruit, blended with the exotic Poha Berry to create a lively flavor.  Singbuilli Estate Darjeeling, imported from India, celebrates the delicate fragrance of the rose petal.  Dragon Phoenix Jasmine Pearls are noted for their distinctive appearance, as well as their unique flavor.  Decaffeinated tea options are also available.

Teas with a tropical essence are now included in the hotel’s tea line.  Fruit-flavored creations include the Moana Sunset, a marriage of tangy ohelo berry and juicy sweet mango, and the Surfrider Serenade, a medley of golden pineapples and succulent strawberries.  The Veranda Breeze is a nod to exotic Polynesia, with a blend of caramel and heady Hawaiian vanilla.

The Moana's fragrant teas, redolent of the islands, are accompanied by fococcia bread with Westphalian ham, an open-faced smoked salmon roll and a mini croissant with turkey salad.  Vegetarian sandwiches are available upon request.

The Banyan Veranda’s desserts are classic presentations.  A multi-tiered server offers warmed buttery-rich scones accompanied by rich Devonshire cream, lemon curd and preserves. Other delicate, sweet pastries include petit fours, chocolate-glazed cream puffs and creamy fruit tarts.   Kaffir lime-lemon grass enhanced green tea sorbet is a refreshing finale to the grand experience.

The historic Moana Surfrider has been the icon of elegance in Waikiki for more than a century.  The Banyan Veranda restaurant is a tranquil retreat, overlooking Waikiki Beach, the Banyan Court and its historic banyan tree.

Rates are per person including 4.712% state tax.

Tours missed due to illness will be entitled to a full refund if physicians papers are submitted.
